The Science Pod
The
basic design of the Science Pod is hardware and software that allows
a person to have a LIVE, REAL TIME inter-active experience with a
remote location and or person. Examples would be talking to an
astronaut on a space mission, controlling a Mars Rover at another
museum, running a robot located at a factory somewhere, or talking
to a scientist working on a project at Stanford or NASA.
This
is a chance for children and adults, from all parts of the country,
to have a learning experience like nothing else available today. The
backbone of the system is a very complex internet software
interface. This is available by dial-up, DSL, high-speed broadband
or radio link. A child in a small Utah museum or a class visiting a
large museum in New York City, can both have a learning experience
that was only dreamed about a year ago. A smaller version can even
be run from a private residence, or a traveling museum running from
coast to coast.
