Imagine using a periscope to get a 360-degree view of an
underwater kelp forest...or a monkey colony...or the surface of a lake
or bay.
Because the optics are replaced by a high-quality digital
video feed, the view through the periscope can show a variety of
content: live video, augmented-reality video, recorded video or
panoramas (think QuickTime VR), or even 3D graphics (virtual reality).
Available in two models.
Model 1. Interactive augmented reality periscope. A
simple and effective interface for controlling 360-degree camera
motion.
Model 2. Naval
replica: this periscope model is designed to replicate the
experience of using a real Naval periscope, such as those found on
submarines. Originally designed for DJS Design
www.designjs.com, this model provides an accurate "look and
feel" for the experience of using a real periscope.
Example applications:
Periscope to the Past: view a sub's-eye view of past
battles through the Naval Periscope. Get an eyeful of ichthyosaurs and
other underwater denizens of the Jurassic Era.
